Almond Paste Bread
Make normal dinner roll dough and let rise covered for 1 hour in not too cold of a place such as the bottom oven.
Make almond paste filling:
- 1 tube almond paste
- 1/2 cup almond flour or plain bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 egg whites
Spray oil on 2 cookie sheets lengthwise where the loaves will go.
Divide dough in to 4 balls.
Roll each dough ball in to a ~8" x ~13" rectangle.
Place 1/4 of the almond paste filling down the center longways, ~2" wide with ~1" margin on each end.
Use kitchen scissors to cut 2" deep cuts down the long sides ~1" apart
Fold over each cut strip of dough diagonally like shoelaces, pinching it's lower corner to the opposite next slot up.
Fold the last two flaps backwards and pinch together.
Place back in not cold place such as bottom oven and let rise for another hour.
Preheat oven dough is not in to 350 degrees F.
Place loaves in oven and cook for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned.
